Kate (stroud) you are a friend, that I would like to keep,
the futon in your loungroom is a place that I do like to sleep.
and those breakfasts that you make are breakfasts that I do like to eat,
whenever I stay.

Lismore is a place that i wouldn't mind to live,
and the scene you're gonna makes one in which I'd like to be active,
and all the dumb shit that I've done, I hope you can forgive,
one day.

CAUSE I DONT HAVE THAT MUCH
BUT I'VE GOT ALL I FUCKING NEED,
IF I'VE GOT A FRIEND IN YOU.

ALL THE DUMB SHIT THATS GONE DOWN
DOENST MEAN A GOD DAMN THING
WITH YOUR HELP TO SEE MY THROUGH

The face you pulled that night, i still picture in my mind
there were puddles on the ground, there were puddles in your eyes
there was nothing to be done when you copped that speeding fine
on your way back home.

Now i daydream of moving north and all the cool shit we'll create,
putting shows on everynight, smashing markets every day,
lets go discuss ideas, hopping cafe to cafe
in this northern rivers town.

CAUSE I DONT HAVE THAT MUCH
BUT I'VE GOT ALL I FUCKING NEED,
IF I'VE GOT A FRIEND IN YOU.

ALL THE DUMB SHIT THATS GONE DOWN
DOENST MEAN A GOD DAMN THING
WITH YOUR HELP TO SEE MY THROUGH

I'm coming around with red wine in a paper bag,
and a new song that i wrote about life aint so bad
two gifts i can afford, i hope that you enjoy them both
we'll be singing it from the rooftop in the town we love the most

watch the bats fly overhead, go see some music down the street
pour some wine into a thermas in hopes of being more discreet
fall asleep on someones couch underneath your favourite scarfe,

share a kiss for old times sake, but only one, just for a laugh,
cause if time has taught us well we'll leave our romance in the past,
cause the friendship that we share is worth more than the sum of both our parts.

CAUSE I DONT HAVE THAT MUCH
BUT I'VE GOT ALL I FUCKING NEED,
IF I'VE GOT A FRIEND IN YOU.

ALL THE DUMB SHIT THATS GONE DOWN
DOENST MEAN A GOD DAMN THING
WITH YOUR HELP TO SEE MY THROUGH
Track Name: Dinky Double
i was holding it together until I was told that you were there,
I'd been seeing you all weekend in every girl with long brown hair
and each time a car passed with an engine on the brink.

So I rode my bike across town knowing I'd likely pass you by,
I kept to a leisurely pace to afford myself adequate time
to think what to say, to think what to think.

three months have passed since the time that we last spoke
at the party where i was a mess and the bell on your bike broke.
but I'm thinking that the timings right for us to reconvene
so i pull up by your side and hope to god that you agree

and I'll ride down every street in town if theres a chance you'll be around,
sitting in the sunshine with an hour to kill,
hop up on the handlebars of my bike and I'll do my best to stay upright.
keeping your company is my kind of thrill.

I said i'd take you tot he station but I doubt that we'll get there,
we always end up stopping along the way, and I swear,
the good times find us like we've got no where to hide.

We pass an old friend at a cafe with avocado in her mouth,
she says to go check out this houseshow, follow this street a few blocks south,
its about to start but we'll make it if we ride.

and I'm thinking we take the shortcut through the quiet part of town,
theres less traffic lights to slow us up and less cars to knock us down.
but the backstreets are full of cats and we stop to meet each and every one.
by the time we reach the end the gig is well and truly done.

and I'll ride down every street in town if theres a chance you'll be around,
sitting in the sunshine with an hour to kill,
hop up on the handlebars of my bike and I'll do my best to stay upright.
keeping your company is my kind of thrill.

time it flies, the days almost done
the suns casting its orange glow onto everyone
and between your words crickets start to chirp
in just ten more hours you'll be getting up for work,
but it three days time I'll be back in town,
so bring your bike if you don't wish to share mine
and we say goodbye as street lights come on
to let us know its time we best get gone
you say its nice to see that we can still get along
and you hope next time it doesn't take quite so long.

and I'll ride down every street in town if theres a chance you'll be around,
sitting in the sunshine with an hour to kill,
hop up on the handlebars of my bike and I'll do my best to stay upright.
keeping your company is my kind of thrill.
Track Name: Wasting our time
marriage is piss poor cause love usually ends
but I wanted to be by your side at the wedding of our friends
that we don't even like.

and i made up my mind that kids weren't for me
and i'll hold fast to that truth until at markets with you and we see
kids under tables making friends on their own.

i've spent three years suspending disbelief,
that time heals all wounds, I am still yet to see.
and I just think that we're wasting our time.

religion is harmful, Im a sceptic to the core
but i keep chancing upon you and I'm starting to think there must be more
than common interests and impossible luck

I've lost good friends to better halves, relationships can seem like death,
and I'm adverse to staying at home, unless its yours,
then I'll wait with bated breath to just stay inside, talk and fuck.

i've spent three years suspending disbelief,
that time heals all wounds, I am still yet to see.
and I just think that we're wasting our time.

like on that rare occasion where we wake up side by side,
share a fleeting embrace before you change your mind,
cause you think shit might get too real.
Track Name: Age of Adz
I was looking for a dark street
where I could drink,
in the van before a gig
come back and sleep but and not be on a hill

but the only park that I could find,
the whereabouts they brought to mind
some gigs we'd gone and seen in marrickville

where bligh got drunk and played solo,
so i put post paint on the stereo.

I miss going to shows with you
singing songs we know, its true
i miss seeing bands with you.

now no song ever sounds as sweet,
i dance along but theres a missing beat
and I'm missing listening to music with you

from the passenger seat of your gold volvo
with the national playing straight from you phone
cause to fix the tape deck i never got the chance.

back to your place we would retreat
to put neutral milk on repeat
and cooking food was just another excuse to dance

and each time I would walk home
listening to bands I hadn't known.

I miss going to shows with you
singing songs we know, its true
i miss seeing bands with you.

now no song ever sounds as sweet,
i dance along but theres a missing beat
and I'm missing listening to music with you

I recall,
Sufjans christmas albums in july,
I tried to hold you hand when we saw him live.
four years ago we came home drunken wrecks
and listened to the age of adz on the night we first had sex.

I miss going to shows with you
singing songs we know, its true
i miss seeing bands with you.

now no song ever sounds as sweet,
i dance along but theres a missing beat
and I'm missing listening to music with you
Track Name: Hammer and tongs
fuck today I didn't do a thing,
i didn't get out I just stayed at home
but I've got a gig this weekend in bellingen
with four of the best dudes I've ever known.

I spent a year in brisbane just drinking wine
applying for courses I couldn't stand,
well i didn't get in and thats just fine,
cause I legged it to lismore and found this band

now Im travelling the coastline and playing shows
with brodie ben, bobby d and jake.
and a group of friends that forever grows.
making the memories I 'd always hoped I'd make

and we'll keep knocking back these beers
like good times will never end
and I hope they never do
cause I've got so much time to spend

with you all I swear to god,
i just don't know where to begin,
you've made a monster of this band
much bigger than the songs we sing.

busking on the street or singing in bar
is a sure fire way to never be alone.
driving in the van then drinking in a park
i've met so many good people so far from home.

i've made a friend who lives just up the block
he's got a floor he says we all could share
he left but said he'd leave a door unlocked.
pick up a case of tongs and meet us there.

and we'll keep knocking back these beers
like good times will never end
and I hope they never do
cause I've got so much time to spend

with you all I swear to god,
i just don't know where to begin,
you've made a monster of this band
much bigger than the songs we sing.

I was talking on the phone
to a friend I rarely see,
about how much we both have grown,
she says she's damn proud of me.

and I'm damn proud of me,
for the first time in years,
and to this new found family,
I raise my glass high to cheers.
